Cambodia has taken a significant step forward in strengthening its national response to chronic respiratory diseases by officially joining the China–CLMV Respiratory Health Initiative. This milestone marks a new era of regional collaboration aimed at improving respiratory health across Southeast Asia.
A memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed between Central Hospital Cambodia, led by Director Dr. Sim Sovannara, and representatives from Central Hospital in China. The agreement highlights a shared commitment to enhancing the prevention, diagnosis, and management of chronic respiratory conditions—a growing public health concern in the region.
This partnership forms part of a larger project uniting China with Cambodia, Lao PDR, Myanmar, and Vietnam (CLMV) to advance respiratory disease control. A key component of the initiative is the establishment of the ASEAN–China Respiratory Specialty Cooperative Organisation, which will serve as a hub for knowledge exchange, medical expertise, and public health advancement.
Through this collaboration, both sides aim to strengthen communication systems, enhance coordinated responses, and support joint scientific seminars and research projects. The initiative is expected to contribute significantly to improved respiratory care, benefiting millions of people across the participating countries.
Central Hospital is proud to be part of this impactful regional effort—building bridges today for a healthier, better-breathing tomorrow.
