Building Bridges for Better Breathing: Cambodia Joins China-CLMV Respiratory Health Initiative

A significant step was taken towards improved respiratory health cooperation between China and Cambodia recently.

A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed between Cambodia’s Central Hospital, led by Director Mrs. Sim Sovannara, and representatives from Central Hospital to China. Dr. Menghak, a pulmonologist, presented on the efforts to prevent and control chronic respiratory diseases in Cambodia.

This initiative is part of a larger project aiming to foster collaboration between China and CLMV countries (Cambodia, Lao PDR, Myanmar, and Viet Nam) in tackling respiratory illnesses. The project seeks to:

  • Strengthen cooperation: Improve communication and joint efforts between China and CLMV nations in preventing and controlling respiratory diseases.
  • Boost academic exchange: Facilitate knowledge sharing through seminars and research collaboration in the field of public health.
  • Establish a specialized organization: Create the ASEAN-China Respiratory Specialty Cooperative Organization to promote public health initiatives and benefit the health of citizens in both regions.

The participation of Cambodia’s Central Hospital, with Dr. Lenna Bo, Emergency Head, and Dr. Menghak, a pulmonologist, signifies the country’s commitment to this vital project. This collaboration holds promise for improved respiratory health outcomes not just in Cambodia, but across the participating nations.
